Operation Compassion Reaches Milestone in Haiti Relief
224 Containers Delivered in Nine Months!
For the past nine months, Operation Compassion has been sending relief goods and supplies to Haiti; everything from tents and sleeping bags to medical supplies and equipment. When the world realized the relief effort was going to be a long term process, Operation Compassion set a goal of delivering 200 containers within the first year following the earthquake. Now, with the help of our donors and international relief partners, Operation Compassion has delivered 224 containers!

At least 142 people have died in a cholera outbreak in the rural Artibonite Region of Haiti 45 miles north of Port-Au-Prince. Operation Compassion has been contacted by Haitian partners requesting emergency supplies to help combat this deadly waterborne, bacteria disease. This is the deadliest health problem in Haiti since the January 12th earthquake which left more than 1 million homeless.

Shocked by the complexity and immensity of the Haiti’s need, students from Lee University are aiming to combat the devastation by sponsoring a benefit concert to raise both money and awareness of the ongoing need. On April 24, Upsilon Xi of Lee University and Operation Compassion are teaming up to host nationally recognized singer and songwriter Shawn McDonald in concert at Lee. Since the earthquake struck Haiti, Operation Compassion has been shipping products for the massive relief effort. Fourteen of our grass roots partners that are actively distributing goods on the ground have received products and supplies since the earthquake. Within the next few days another 3 partners will be added making 17 the total number of partners on the ground distributing products and supplies to earthquake survivors.

On January 25, 2010, renowned Grammy Award winning Gospel artist, Pastor Donnie McClurkin celebrated his 50th birthday with a 50th Jubilee Gala Celebration, a fundraising event benefitting Operation Compassion, Feed the Children and World Vision.
