Operation Compassion Continues Haitian Relief Effort

By , January 30, 2010

Two weeks after a devastating earthquake struck the capital city of Haiti, Operation Compassion continues its relief effort. Never before has Operation Compassion experienced such outpouring of support from churches, manufacturers, partner charities and the general public.

So far, Operation Compassion and our partners have helped send more than 35 containers of disaster relief goods and supplies for immediate distribution. They were delivered just prior to or following the earthquake. More than 50 containers are processed and en route to Haiti. In addition, another 600+ containers have been secured that will be delivered during the next 12 months, including building supplies for the recovery and rebuilding phase.

Operation Compassion has received a number of special donations along with the many products and supplies all ready secured. These special donations are:

  • Mayo Clinic’s non-profit partner gave 8 semis of medical supplies;
  • 1 million pairs of shoes were donated by Soles for Souls;
  • 25 semis of new children and adult clothing were donated by KIDS and Fashion Delivers;
  • An ambulance was donated by one of our partners;
  • 3 mobile medical clinics are being constructed; 1 is all ready completed;
  • One of our disaster relief partners, Feed the Children has donated more than 58 semis to Operation Compassion Haitian relief.

Operation Compassion and its partners on the ground in Haiti have reported tens of thousands of people coming for assistance. Many have not eaten for several days and water is in high demand. With appreciation for the help, the Haitians are orderly, polite and very thankful. They are loving and endearing people that have survived many disasters and hardships throughout the years.
