Operation Compassion Sends Relief to Tornado Victims
5/6/03
As the morning dawned on the devastation from an outbreak of tornadoes
through Kansas, Missouri, Arkansas and Tennessee, Operation Compassion
was all ready preparing for a response. By mid morning, a semi
trailer loaded with relief supplies was on its way to the disaster
site in Jackson, TN. Eleven people died in this middle Tennessee
college town as a twister drove through the middle of the business
district.
Richard Felts, a local Church of God Pastor, is serving as field
coordinator for Operation Compassion. Pastor Felts was out early
assessing damage and gathering products to meet the needs of the
people in his community.
As the day wore on, many other reports of the damage and devastation
were coming in to Operation Compassion’s Disaster Relief
Center in Cleveland, TN. Response to the other areas that were
hard hit will be forth coming in the next several days.
Feed the Children was one of the first to contact Operation Compassion
offering relief supplies to the disaster sites. Over the next several
days, Feed the Children and Operation Compassion will be partnering
together delivering all the necessary disaster relief supplies
to the areas hardest hit by the destructive forces of these tornadoes.
