Operation Compassion Assists in New York City Disaster
9/18/01
Operation Compassion has been called by agencies on the ground
to assist in the hauling and distribution of donated product for
relief workers at ground zero. At this time, Operation Compassion
partners have 2 semis distributing products at ground zero - 1 block
from the actual disaster location.
Operation Compassion is transporting such products as food, paper
products, breads and desserts, soap products, bottled water, canned
soups, blankets, personal hygiene items, cots and other nutritional
items. Due to the unique nature of this disaster only specific items
are being asked for. Many United States corporations are providing
Operation Compassion semi loads of these urgently requested products.
Many trucking firms/businesses have loaned semi tractors and trailers
for the shipping of donated products.
Although product is donated, shipping is paid for by Operation
Compassion National Distribution Center. It costs approximately
$1,500 per load in shipping/hauling. For further information, please
