Operation Compassion Assists Victims of Flood and Poverty
in West Virginia
8/3/01
Approximately 25 members of Canton Temple of Praise, located in
Canton, Ohio, arrived on Friday, August 3 in Holden, West Virginia
to assist the Benevolence Ministry, Operation Compassion, to distribute
items which were gathered by the Canton Temple of Praise in a semi-trailer.
These items include clothing, toys, household items and appliances
which will be distributed to area residents who are victims of poverty
and the recent flooding. Southwestern West Virginia has been plagued
with flooding and continual rains for the last few weeks. Some of
the area residents have literally watched as their homes have been
washed away by the floodwaters.
The team will be taking enough clothes for 300 children and 300
adults. They will be housed in the Appalachian Dream Center, a benevolence
outreach center, that feeds 150 people daily and will be helping
to renovate their facility.
For further information about the Appalachian Dream Center, contact
Reverend Hartwell at 304-687-5085. The Operation Compassion team
consists of men, women and children who have a desire to reach out
to those who are hurting.
