In the aftermath of a devastating line of thunderstorms that spawned deadly tornadoes through the southeast, Operation Compassion was initiating its disaster relief network at 1:30 AM. Partners from across the country were calling offering product and relief goods to the hardhit areas. Nine (9) semi-trucks of goods and supplies was among the first offering. On Thursday afternoon, tornadoes started popping up in Oklahoma from a storm system that was heading to the deep south. By Saturday, the storm had reserved its worse destruction for North Carolina and Virginia where hundreds of homes had been destroyed or severely damaged. As Mt. Merapi in central Indonesia continues to erupt, Operation Compassion begins its response to the devastated area. A request has been made for blankets, soy rice, face masks and other products necessary to sustain life as more than 350,000 Indonesians are homeless following the initial eruption.
