Operation Compassion recently sent a 40 foot overseas shipping container to Israel. The people of Israel face many difficult problems on a day to day basis. Throughout the Middle East region political and military unrest is the normal way of life. As with any relief aid Operation Compassion delivers, the only qualification is that there is a need.

Last month, Operation Compassion joined two of our valued ministry partners on a missionto send 580,000 meals to the starving children in South Sudan. We are proud to announce those have arrived and are being distributed as promised!

In 2011, South Sudan gained independence from Sudan after a 25 year civil war. Shortly after the celebration of liberation, the ruling political party divided and began infighting. By 2013, the political fighting devolved into street violence in the capital city and in many major cities across South Sudan and another civil war broke out leaving thousands fleeing for their lives. In 2017, government
and world officials declared a famine throughout South Sudan as millions of people, mostly children, were starving to death.

Operation Compassion began sending 40’ containers to Tortola this week after receiving clearance. Since Hurricane Irma struck the island nation in the British Virgin Islands, Tortola has been trying to piece together enough infrastructures to begin receiving shipments in port.

Hurricane Matthew is the most powerful storm in more than a decade to impact Haiti, the surrounding region, and now threatens the United States. The southwestern peninsula of Haiti is marooned, small towns and villages have been devastated by flooding and mudslides, and the storm is still going. More than 20 inches of rain fell across Haiti and Jamaica, and now the United States braces for the impact of a storm that is strengthening over warm Caribbean waters.
