Operation Compassion Ships One Million Pairs of Shoes

By , June 21, 2012

During the first 5 months of this year, more than 1 million pairs of shoes have been shipped around the world through Operation Compassion. Most of the recipients have been children and many of these have never had a pair of shoes to wear. However, the potential is even greater as manufacturers in Asia have tentatively offered another million pairs for distribution.
In an effort to handle this donation effectively and efficiently, Operation Compassion is using its international partners to help distribute these shoes throughout Central America, the Caribbean Basin, Indonesia, Moldova, Ukraine, Israel, Kenya, South Africa, Zimbabwe, South Sudan and Ghana. Over 10 million children under the age of 5 die each year from preventable causes, according to UNICEF of the United Nations.
Bill Gates, founder and Board Chairman of Microsoft, recently said, “50% of infectious diseases in the world can be prevented with two things, toilets and shoes.” Operation Compassion is attempting to meet one of those needs! Help Operation Compassion continue its mission of helping children. Donate today!
