Operation Compassion Named Most Efficient Charity by Forbes.com

By , December 3, 2010

Forbes.com, the premier online magazine, has just named Operation Compassion for the second consecutive time in their annual America’s 200 Largest Charities survey. Out of 1.4 million charities in the United States, Operation Compassion was listed #1 with 100% of our expenses going directly to our global programs. This category calculates how much of the total expenses went to charitable purposes verses program overhead or charity efficiency. Three other charities tied with the #1 ranking.

Operation Compassion was also listed #1 in fundraising efficiency with 100% of our funds going directly to our global programs. According to the author of the article, fundraising efficiency shows the amount of money left for program expenses after deducting the charities overhead. We were tied with 19 other charities.

These are important numbers that indicate our consistent growth during the past 13 years of assisting children, single parent families, widows and senior adults. Overall, Operation Compassion was listed #40 in private support and #77 in total revenue.
