Operation Compassion Receives Unprecedented Shoe Donation

By , July 15, 2009

Operation Compassion recently received a large donation of 324,000 pairs of shoes. These shoes are being designated for distribution around the world. Ninety percent of the donation is for children, but widows and senior adults, many of whom have never had a new pair of shoes, will also receive shoes that will shield their feet from cuts, scrapes and infectious diseases.

In many third world countries, people go barefooted because of the expense of shoes or the unavailability of shoes. Children are especially susceptible to the dangers of going shoeless. It starts with a simple cut or scrape; walking in the dirt and mud, an infection sets up; with the lack of antibiotics to fight infection, the solution can disastrous.

Through this donation of casual, athletic, flip-flops and slippers, many children will be spared the pain and agony of such an ordeal in their young lives. In fact, in many instances, a simple sandal or flip-flop type of shoe is all that is needed to protect those young feet from possible tragedy.

In order to receive this summer donation, Operation Compassion had to present a distribution plan. In cooperation with the manufacturers, Soles4Souls, Inc. and Feed the Children, Operation Compassion will work to distribute these shoes in sixteen Caribbean Basin countries, Africa, Asia, South America and Central America.

Operation Compassion is currently raising funds to distribute these quality branded shoes. Some of these shoes are valued at $70 and higher. It is costing less than $1 per pair for a barefoot child to receive a pair of shoes. To help share the cost, send your donation to the address below or for a secure donation visit our web site.

Operation Compassion is local 501(c)3 relief organization based in Cleveland, TN. Operation Compassion annually receives and ships more than three thousand semi trucks of products across the United States and in 31 countries.
