Asian Corporations Donate to Operation Compassion

By , January 14, 2005

On the heels of the unprecedented damage and destruction of the December 26, 2004 earthquake and resulting tsunami in southern Asia, major corporations from across the region has generously donated product for relief efforts. Utilizing the international network of Operation Compassion, these corporations are providing substantial quantities of food and water to the survivors.

Corporations from Singapore, Taiwan, China and Hong Kong have been overwhelming supportive in the wake of this disaster. People that lived in remote areas are still struggling to receive basic assistance. However, because of the liberal commitment of the companies to continue relief efforts help will continue to arrive.

The Taiwanese government recently released five hundred containers of rice. Every container is capable of delivering forty thousand pounds of product. That means there is twenty million pounds of rice on the way to feed the thousands of displaced children, senior adults and families ripped a part by this disaster of Biblical proportions.

In Singapore and Hong Kong, bottled water has been donated as the water supplies continue to be contaminated. It is estimated that it could take years before adequate water supplies are replaced or repaired.

Of course, Operation compassion continued to procure and ship products from the United States. The need is so vast for this disaster. So many people have been affected. It will take everyone and it will take years to rebuild the lives. If it takes a village to raise a child, then it will take the collective effort of the world’s resources to raise hope from the utter despair of this tsunami!
